ANOTHER fundraising event has been set up to raise money for Dan Brawn, who underwent surgery in Thailand on last week.
The people of Rushden responded to an urgent Just Giving appeal from friends and family – you can read the story here.
The appeal stated: “This a matter of urgency. Please, please help get this boy home. We all know the boy Daniel Brawn, (Brawny). A great friend to all – 12 years ago he started a new life in Thailand. Sadly, Daniel has recently become very poorly with cancer. We need to raise £17,500 to get him a life-saving operation and then bring him home.
“Sadly the hospital he’s in in Thailand will not operate on Daniel until it receives minimum payments.”
“Please help us get our boy home. Every penny counts! Please share share and share again.”
Astonishingly, £13,611 has now been raised and £9,000 wired to the hospital to pay for an operation.
Daniel’s brother Justin confirmed he was now recovering from the operation and thanked everyone for their support.
The page was set up and launched by friends Fran Johnston and Charlene Nash, both from Rushden.
Organisers said the target was now £17,500 to pay for aftercare and travel expenses to get Daniel home.
Now, local florist Carla Mann has organised a raffle to help funds towards treatment – visit Stem’ann Petals Facebook page for more details.
Meanwhile, the fete will take place at Victoria House, in Victoria Road, Rushden,,on Tuesday, September 15, from 2pm to to 4pm, with all donations going to Mr Brawn to help get him home.
There will be a raffle, tombola, sweet stall, cake stall, burgers and chips.
The fete will be out the front of the home with social distancing at all times. Any donations for the raffle please bring to the home to Michelle, Tracy or Stacey.
