IN consultation with Rushden’s Royal British Legion, Rushden Town Council has made the tough decision to scale back this year’s Remembrance Sunday service due to the ongoing pandemic.
In a statement on its website, the council said: “We realise that this is very disappointing, but our priority at this time, must be to keep people safe in their home environment.
“Instead of the traditional tributes and parade, we are working on ways for the community to be able to remember and recognise all those who served and sacrificed, from the safety of their homes.
“We are encouraging you to take part in the two minute doorstep silence and are working on the logistics of live streaming the wreath laying service that will be available to watch online.”
More details on the finalised plans will be announced over the next coming weeks.
