Veterans of the Falklands War and Members of the Rushden & District Royal Naval Association are walking 74 km, or 1 km for each day of the Falklands War), this weekend, (August 20 to 22), to raise funds for the Falklands Veterans Foundation
The walk starts on Friday and finishes on Sunday, August 22 in Rushden will visit 18 War Memorials along the route, where the RNA will recognise, remember and honour British Service people who lost their lives in the Falklands War and all other wars.
The route passes through Northampton, Kettering and Wellingborough and linking villages.
The lead walker is myself Paul McKay, who flew Lynx helicopter from HMS Brilliant during the recapture of South Georgia and the Falkland Islands.
The veterans will leave Rushden Sea Cadets at 9am Friday, walk along the High Street to the memorial to pay respect at 9.10am.
The Mayor will lay a wreath before the veterans start their walk.
